Don’t Buy It!

With the UK now entering a second lockdown you would have hoped that people would have commonsense from last time….turns out no. This is problematical for two reasons – one they are the people who haven’t realised that the government have been quietly passing laws to ensure the lockdown is mandatory, I cite The Health Protection (Coronavirus, Collection of Contact Details etc and Related Requirements) Regulations 2020 which was passed without a draft being presented. There are the idiots who think there will be a shortage of everything and are greedily buying everything so as to not run out – leaving none for others.

Boris Johnson may be angry that his little secret was leaked on Friday night but if he had a better handle on the situation we would not be in this preposterous situation again. The British people are now angry and are dangerously in the realms of not giving a fuck at all about anything, many many people are going to be fined, I read a story this weekend of one of our local pubs being fined £1k for their lock-in – it read like a news story from the 1900s people were ‘dancing together on the dance floor without face coverings’ and other such shocking things. I agree with the PCs statement that a few shouldn’t spoil it for the many but let’s face it we are back in lockdown so how can this be progress?

Its almost like we have taken a big step back over the last 6 months or so – where even the slightest bit of entertainment is distasteful. Any form of physical contact with someone one other than those you live with is considered a taboo, the English have never been particularly touchy-feely but there are plenty who are deficient in human contact and emotion to the point it has seriously affected their mental health.

Stay happy and healthy in lockdown it is a difficult time for everyone but I would rather be safe than dead. Leave a comment below or join the conversation at facebook.com/onlynomeswriting  or twitter.com/nomwritingfood

  1. Yes, better safe, than dead. There are all sorts of fun events I think of attending, while a voice in the back of my mind says it is better to wait on large gatherings, for as long as necessary. I feel that it is better to wait on the non-essential gatherings that many of us love to attend, but shouldn’t, not until a vaccine is approved and proven safe, and effective. Dr. Fauci, here in the United States, is predicting that things may not be back to normal until 2022. We are in for a long haul, it looks like, particularly during the holidays, and the winter months. My sister and her family have a touch of a strain of flu that doesn’t appear to be Covid-19, as a couple of them have negative test results, for that virus. I had the flu shot, as well as others in my family, but other strains of the flu are now in circulation. It is said that one person had regular, seasonal flu and Covid-19, at the same time, which is the reason they have been advising citizens to get the flu shot, for seasonal flu. My family is talking about canceling our Thanksgiving dinner, and stores will actually be closed Thanksgiving night, this year, which formerly had become the start of our Black Friday shopping, in our highly capitalistic society. There is the dream world, of what we wish to be happening, and what we feel that we need–which is to be in close contact with a lot of people and to support our struggling economy, but the reality keeps pointing toward being socially distant, wearing masks when we can’t be socially distant, and washing our hands. We may be bored, lonely, and sad, but it is better than being dead. I saw an article that said that all of these Trump rallies are resulting in greater numbers of cases of the virus, as determined by contact tracing. There are more cases of the virus in the locations where his rallies were held, where however many unmasked attendees gathered, at each of these events.
