Time and time again the conversation goes ‘learn to be more organised, tidy, considerate’ name a thing; it sounds like a laundry list of teenage lessons, right? It’s true certainly but it’s also a list of things many adults need to remember to do as well, myself included.
Funny how you think you have things organised and you suddenly realise its because you’ve blocked everything out. Sat watching reality TV shows silently judging the contestants for the insecurities you share with them.
Knowing how to deal with the emotions can be difficult but when you are no longer a teenager you no longer have that excuse. Understanding why you are insecure is the best way to start – are they the same insecurities you were just mocking? Chances are yes it was, you criticise the anxiety levels both you and them struggle to control, ironic surely? Being mature is something we learn as we grow and it comes with a degree of self-control, you have to keep yourself in check because you cannot expect anyone to do it for you.
The most important thing to remember in all of this that is positivity is key, no matter how bleak things look there is always some good to come, whether its someone paying it forward or simply showing gratitude for something you have received it all counts towards the bigger picture. Your overall goal should be a happy and fulfilled life in whichever chosen setting you decide on.
You never know the journey others are on, walk a mile in their shoes by all means but don’t step on their toes, treat everyone with respect you don’t know what they might be dealing with.
