A Truly Heavenly Glitch

2020 has brought many things to us including death and destruction, thankfully there is hope, a town in Switzerland home to the Lindt & Sprüngli chocolate factory had a ventilation malfunction. This caused the town to be covered in chocolate snow, although a slightly sticky inconvenience it will wash off and one can only speculate what the smell was like. Lindt is my favourite chocolate and Lindor are my absolute favourite.

The Lindt & Spruengli company confirmed local reports on Tuesday that there was a minor defect in the cooling ventilation for a line for roasted “cocoa nibs” in its factory in Olten, between Zurich and Basel.

The ventilation system malfunction coupled with strong winds meant that the town was dusted in cacao powder, its now fixed and there will be no more escaping chocolate dust. The incident caused a small amount of drama but I suspect there will be very little in the way of a cleanup bill or environmental damage after all chocolate washes out.
