Grab The Popcorn!

The current climate has created a series of difficulties for those trying to sell their wares. The arts and culture sector has always been one to suffer when a recession hits, people have less money and they tend to cut down on unnecessary spending like concerts, art exhibitions or even books. I was sad to hear the books of one of the authors I follow will go out of print in October because her publishing house sadly hasn’t survived the pandemic.

I asked myself whether now was the right time to launch my book and I have come to the conclusion that yes it is, not because I seek monetary recompense although that is one of the positive sides of having your book available to buy. I have been reflecting on my lack of planning as regards to marketing and launching the book and although in retrospect I really think I should have started this a lot sooner there are lessons that can be taken from the mistake.

Marketing a book relies on several factors, appealing to genre fans so they all like your book, hook them in and leave them wanting more – all whilst setting the price of the book so that people will give it a try and you still achieve the royalties you deserve. Full-time writers rely on their books to fund their lifestyles so you should bear that in mind when pricing your book. Remember also that the taxman will have his cut so you need to factor in that and living expenses when you are setting your target. Then you know everything after that is profit for you to spend as you please.

Reading is the perfect form of escapism. “We The Few” transports you to a world where things are not as normal as they seem, as you to drift off into another world shaking off the craziness of life as we know it. I want people to enjoy my book and I do welcome any feedback that you might have. MCs Kate and Rachel are set to have many adventures throughout the trilogy and are eager for you to follow their progress.
