The Last One

Consider that the last rolo is only technically last until you buy another packet, the last checkpoint in a race means you have nearly completed the race and the final item on your list which you just ticked off was the last one and you have done everything.

The last year of a decade is of course the end of an era and 2019 is no different to 2009 or 1999 and so on with the exception of 1999 being a new millennium if course. As I have mentioned previously its crazy for me to think how quickly this has come round, the last 9 years have been pretty crazy in one way or another, there have been ups and downs, highs and lows, but one thing I have learnt is that I have to trust myself more, being emotionally independent as an adult is an alien concept for most but at the end of the day who is with you all the time?

There was a time when 2020 seemed so far away, many films in the 1960/70s used the 2020s to date their futuristic cinematic masterpieces predicting all kinds of robots and developments in technology, some of which are slowly coming to fruition others seemingly still so far away, the space travel and fully computerised homes are developing fast with home hubs being installed all over the world and several companies developing touristic space programmes. I think its unlikely that Hollywood was prescient in its portrayal of the future but more idealistic and companies listen to things which influence their audiences buying and consuming habits. Having said that the progression of technology in films has also been exponential so its interesting to see what will be coming up in the future.

The last 10 years have seen leaps in design and technology and we are now able to communicate via video, text or voice call across the world, there are now essentially no borders, only those who dont have internet access and this is now only a very small number of people in the world. The world has now gone from 6 degrees of separation to 2, this is an incredible leap in global communications to be able to send a message across the world with 2 degrees of separation is something most would have said was impossible when they managed to get it down to 6 back in the 1990s. Mobile phones are now preferred form of telecommunication device and even then most use VoIP software to call, the age of the mobile phone companies profiteering from peoples allowance misfortunes are dwindling with free wifi for all being rolled out across whole countries. The human race is pretty much dependant on the internet and technology for all aspects of our lives right down to what meals we should be eating, how much we have slept and how we should have been sleeping. Speaking more via message then we do face to face it can be frustrating to those who remember a time before social media existed and most of us didnt even have a phone.

As this is my last post of 2019, I want to wish everyone a very happy New Year and a great 2020, I hope you get to live your best life and if not get well on the way, life is for living, do what you love.
